Laguna Honda Rating Rises to 4 of 5 Stars

San Francisco, CA -- The federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services this week raised the quality rating for Laguna Honda Hospital and Rehabilitation Center to 4 of 5 stars. It is the second consecutive year the hospital has been awarded an additional star.

“It’s a milestone for us,” said Executive Administrator Mivic Hirose. “It reflects the dedication of a strong staff and the commitment of the city to excellence in health care. Especially now as health care reform becomes a reality, Laguna Honda’s growing reputation for outstanding care adds to the reasons to turn to the Department of Public Health for comprehensive services,” she said.

The annual CMS Nursing Home Compare report rates facilities on three criteria, staffing, health inspections and quality measures. The hospital’s goal is to attain 5 stars by 2014.

Laguna Honda is a branch of the San Francisco Department of Public Health. It provides acute care, rehabilitation and skilled nursing services to a safety net population of 765 seniors and adults with disabilities.
